How we handle your information
Last updated: July 2026
This notice covers the business contact information we use when we reach out about instrumentation. It is written for the person who received an email from us and wants to know how we got their address and what we do with it.
What we hold, and where it came from
If we contacted you, we hold some or all of the following: your name, your work email address, your job title, the institution or company you work for, and a short note on your publicly stated field of work or the unit you run.
This information comes from publicly accessible professional sources — typically your institution's own staff, faculty or core-facility pages, or business contact databases. We do not buy consumer data, and we do not collect anything from private accounts or social networks.
Why we use it
To make relevant, one-off business contact about scientific and industrial instrumentation that may be useful in your professional role. We contact you as a professional at your organisation, not as a private individual.
We contact you once
Our practice is a single approach. If you do not reply, we do not follow up and we do not add you to a mailing list or a drip sequence. We continue a conversation only with people who choose to have one.
Who else processes it
We use established third-party service providers to store contact records and to prepare and deliver email — including a customer-relationship database, a business email provider, and automated tools that help draft correspondence. These providers process the information on our behalf. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep business contact records while they remain relevant to our work. If you opt out, we retain your address specifically so that our systems can recognise it and avoid contacting you again — which requires keeping it rather than deleting it. If you would rather we erase it entirely, tell us and we will.
Your choices
- Stop the email. Use the opt-out page, or reply remove to any message from us.
- Ask what we hold. Email us and we will tell you what is on your record.
- Correct or delete it. Email us and we will amend or erase it.
For any of these, contact david@merkeltechnologies.com. We aim to respond within a few business days.
This site
This site is a plain informational site. It sets no cookies and loads no advertising trackers or third-party fonts. To understand which pages are useful, we count page views using our hosting provider's built-in analytics (Vercel Web Analytics), which is served from this domain, uses no cookies, and does not identify or profile individual visitors — we see aggregate counts such as page views, referring sites and country, not who you are. Beyond that, nothing about your visit is recorded except the ordinary server logs kept by our hosting provider.
