Image the structure, or deliver the dose

The technology

KUBTEC builds two complementary X-ray platforms for the research lab. Its cabinet imaging systems — XPERT, XSEED and the 3D-capable PARAMETER — capture high-resolution 2D and 3D X-ray of small animals and specimens, with Image Blender technology overlaying the X-ray onto an optical photo so the signal lands on real anatomy; the DIGIMUS Multi software then turns those scans into quantitative bone mineral density and whole-body composition (fat, lean and bone), aligned with DXA methodology. Alongside them, the XCELL irradiation systems — the benchtop 180 and free-standing 320 — deliver precise, self-contained X-ray irradiation as a source-free, CIRP-eligible alternative to cesium irradiators for studying how cells, tissues and animal models respond to radiation. The XCELL TomoRad extends that line into image-guided radiotherapy: it takes a tomosynthesis 3D X-ray first, so the dose is aimed at the target rather than the whole animal, which is what preclinical radiotherapy, cell-therapy and immunotherapy studies need.

Where it’s used

  • Bone mineral density and body-composition analysis
  • Small-animal and specimen 2D/3D X-ray imaging
  • X-ray irradiation of cells, tissues and animal models
  • Image-guided radiotherapy studies with targeted dose delivery
  • Cesium-free irradiation for immunocompromised model prep
